The soothing effects of dry air and exercise on irritated skin

Friday, September 3rd, 2010

If you have been on skiing holidays before, you must have noticed how good the cold, dry air and the exercise are for you. There’s something that’s good about dry air, when it comes to your skin. Bacteria cannot grow in dry air, and most germs are unable to function well if there is not enough moisture in the air. Since it is a fact that skin irritations are almost always caused by bacteria, dry air has a soothing effect on the skin because it stops the growth of bacteria.

Exercise, on the other hand, exposes your skin to air and light, and this makes your skin less moist. Again, without moisture, bacteria cannot grow, and hence, your skin irritation goes away. So, exercise and dry air together can be very pleasant with a skin irritation.

Dry climate also has another utility. It lets your blood coagulate quickly, so that if there is any bleeding or inflammation, you quickly get coagulated blood with fewer chances of infection at the wound.

This can be very soothing for skin irritations, because bleeding wounds can quickly become pus-filled and cause trouble. Dry air prevents this from happening.

So, when you are on holidays, try and take in that dry air on your skin as much as possible. You will have fewer infections, fewer irritations and a much more soothing effect on your skin. Add to that the amount of extra exercise you naturally undergo during holidays, especially sports holidays, and you will come home with a much better, less irritating skin, and better humor.529240

Laser treatments for the skin and the body

Monday, August 30th, 2010

Since the very dawn of time, people have wanted to reverse the effect of ageing on the skin so as to look younger. Technology has finally reached a point where the use of laser can provide a variety of treatments to the skin from smoothing out wrinkles to removing unwanted hair to tightening the skin. For instance, pixel skin resurfacing can repair skin damage by acne or scarring by removing surface layers of skin and stimulating the skin underneath to grow healthy and smooth. You can get all the benefits of chemical or abrasive smoothening without the pain and a much shorter time to heal.

Another major use of laser technology is in the removal of unwanted hair. This represents a major cosmetic issue for both men and women and long-term solutions have been missing. Lasers use just enough heat energy to damage the hair follicle in the area that is being treated so that it cannot regenerate or renew hair. The treatment is safe and painless though several sessions may be required to achieve a permanent result.

Weight loss is a major problem for many people because there are pockets of fat in the body that simply will not respond to traditional diet and exercise regimes. With the use of laser, a technique called body sculpting has evolved, which involves reshaping the body surgically. The heat from the laser is used to liquefy the fat pockets and the liquid fat is then removed with the help of a vacuum. The procedure is highly effective, especially on smaller areas where liposuction may be difficult.

In the Zerona procedure, a low-level laser that does not generate any heat is used to perform the procedure. It is not invasive, and low level lasers have no recorded side effects. The patient feels absolutely nothing and recovery time is minimal. You must keep in mind that this is not a crash weight loss program but a programme to remove fat and sculpt your body for the best possible results.534361

There’s No Vacation From Skin Care

Wednesday, August 25th, 2010

Everybody loves to go on vacation. Whether you happen to be into sun and sand, or slopes and snow boards, a little time away from all the boring yet stressful parts of your life can be just the rejuvenation you need, to get back to things energized and ready to build a better life. But, of course, even on vacation, you still have some responsibilities. While no one wants to think of serious chapping, let alone melanoma skin cancer, these are both potential hazards, which can be magnified by the weather conditions you may encounter while you are on vacation. So whether you happen to be going on cruises or skiing on the Alps, you may want to take heed of the following tips for on the go skin care.

Pack some dry skin lotion. While many people do not think of this, dry skin can make your entire vacation less comfortable overall. A little lotion applied liberally can make you feel a lot better… and if you happen to be on the beach and on the prowl, it can also help you to look better for the opposite sex.

Also pack the sun screen. Sun screen of at least SPF (Sun Protection Factor) 30 is extremely useful for keeping your skin from developing all sorts of cancerous growths over time. Just apply it half an hour before you plan to go out into the Sun, and the effects will become noticeable overtime. While not everyone who get a lot of sun get cancer, many people develop hard, leathery skin as they grow older – and a great deal of the reason for this is contained in their level of unprotected Sun exposure. Also keep in mind that the Sun’s radiation is only slightly lessened, even by heavy cloud cover. Just because the weather is cold, does not mean you should abandon the use of Sun screen.534366
